Mission Statement:
The Banff Alpine Racers and Bow Valley Quikies, in partnership with their members, exist to promote the sport of alpine ski racing by providing opportunities for all members to develop personal excellence.
History:
The Banff Quikies Ski Club was formed in 1978 to provide ski coaching for children in the Banff area; shortly after the Banff Alpine Racers Ski Club was formed to create a competitive skiing program for graduates of the Quikies program.
Through friendly competition with an emphasis on fun, individual achievement, camaraderie and teamwork, thousands of children have experienced ski racing over the past three decades with the Club. In addition, the club has moved a number of athletes through the system achieving Provincial and National Ski Team status.
In 1992, the Banff Quikies Ski Club was renamed the Bow Valley Quikies Ski Club to more accurately reflect the home base of the membership. The Bow Valley Quikies and Banff Alpine Racers are both members of the Canadian Ski and Snow Board Association, Alpine Canada Alpin and Alberta Alpine Ski Association. Both clubs are registered under the Societies Act and are not-for-profit youth development organizations managed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
The Clubs' goal is to stay at the forefront of Canadian ski racing providing each of the athletes the opportunity to maximize his or her potential. The employment of high calibre coaches, the use of quality training equipment and the access to world class training and competitive venues are vital to achieving this goal.
