The Bow Valley Quikies section of our club is the Entry level focused on the first phase of athletic development, the Fundamentals. The Quikies program starts at age five and continues until the age of ten and has three programs for children. The programs all emphasize, fun, safety, personal growth, developing a love of sport, fundamental skiing skills and introduction to racing. These skills are taught utilizing the Husky Snow Stars Skill Awards Program, http://www.canski.org/e/html/misc/Snowstars_03.htm .  This program is being used across Canada and was developed by Alpine Canada Alpin http://www.canski.org/ and the Canadian Ski CoachesFederation. http://www.snowpro.com/ . At this level of our program, gates and races are used as fun activities to build upon their skills and to develop sportsmanship and team play. Success is measured on an individualbasis.

Ages:  5-10 (as of December 31, 2007)
Program Days: Saturday or Sunday starting January 12/13, 2008 ending March 22/23, 2008
Days on Snow: 10 weeks
Daily Schedule: Morning 10:30-12:30 and Afternoon 1:15-3:15 (4 hours on snow)
Coach to Athlete Ratio: 1 to 6
Pass Required: Ski Banff@Norquay
Minimum Skill Level: Must be able to ski green runs unassisted

Optional Camps: Introduction Camp, Christmas, New Years, Family Day and Spring Camps

Events: BVQ Invitational, BVQ End of Season Wind Up, Sunshine Invitational, Castle Mountain Terrain Skills Event,Doug Meyers Invitational and the GradFest (for 10 year olds)

Optional Camps: November 25 & 26/07, December 1 & 2/07, April 12 & 13/08

Minimum Ski Level: Completed Level 4 Snow Stars
Events: World Cup Opening Ceremonies,BVQ Club Race, Caribou Cup, Putnam Cup, Doug Meyers Invitational and GradFest (for 10 year olds only)
Fee: $1800
Optional Camp: spring K1 Integration camp for 10 year olds
